Rebuilding the lifting mechanism is a two-part process. You must first disassemble the lifting mechanism so that you can measure the size of the gas cylinder and order the new part. You will need needle nose pliers, with a long handle and a helper. Disassembly takes about half an hour. So you put it back together when the part arrives. It only takes 20 minutes and you can do it without help. Start the repair by turning it upside down on the workbench. Then remove the spring retaining clip at the bottom of the pedestal (Photo 1). Then, lift the entire pedestal and column of the chair up. Collect the pad, washers and rubber bumper and keep the parts together for reuse. Remove the frame of the telescopic frame.
